South Central Wisconsin Job Center System
South Central Wisconsin Job Center System
The Workforce Development Board of South Central Wisconsin works to develop our region's Job Centers by providing both financial and technical support. The Board and partners assure access to a broad array of workforce and economic development resources and services through a combination of 3 Job Centers, 16 Access Points, and 7 Interactive Television (ITV) service sites that are strategically aligned to networks of workforce and economic development partners.
The South Central Wisconsin Job Center System (and WorkSmart) serves both job seekers and businesses located in the Wisconsin counties of Columbia, Dane, Dodge, Jefferson, Marquette, and Sauk. For a complete listing of service locations, visit www.comeherefirst.org.
Serving Our Communities
Last year, 95,542 visits were made to a South Central Wisconsin Job Center or affiliated workforce service location to access workforce development opportunities. The South Central Wisconsin Job Center System is a partnership of government agencies and community-based organizations with a common goal: to make our community a better place to live by improving job opportunities through economic support, training and education.
Our Job Center locations are home to several government and community agencies that can help you access both career and non-career related services. These Centers provide access to critical job and skill development services and resources, as well as business services that are vital to the social and economic well-being of our communities through partnerships with other local, state, and federal agenices, education and economic development organizations. While all agencies may not have staff or services at every location, staff can help you get in touch with someone best able to meet your needs.

WorkSmart Access Points of Service
WorkSmart Access Points build on the Job Center System initiative to offer job seekers local access to workforce resources in outlying communities. The Board supports 16 Access Points throughout South Central Wisconsin. These smaller, satellite sites provide job seekers free computer and Internet access to: apply for jobs, create or update cover letters and resumes, apply for public assistance (i.e., FoodShare and health care), and get connected to a Job Center—all in one convenient location. Find an Access Point location at www.comeherefirst.org.
Interactive Television (ITV)
We continue to build solutions through increased offerings and new technologies, like interactive video (ITV) and portable computer labs. Increased use of technology enables both staff and customers to connect to new services from a distance–saving both time and resources.
