Health Care Workforce Alliance

Mission

The Health Care Workforce Alliance promotes a stronger, mutually supportive workforce development system where employers, workers, and workforce education and training providers collaborate synergistically to build skills, productivity, service quality, and training efficacy. This effort will strengthen our health care delivery organizations, enhance career opportunities for residents, improve healthcare delivery outcomes, and support the physical and economic health of our communities.

Guiding Principles

Recruit

Shared priority of employers and Workforce Development Entities
Broadening and deepening collaborative industry outreach to promote health care industry careers
Work towards a central clearinghouse for information, internships, tours (physical and virtual), job shadowing, etc.
Youth Career Pathways Academy to include youth opportunities such as youth options and Youth Apprenticeship
Outreach and create access to disadvantaged/underemployed/low skill adults
Work towards a centralized streamlined compliance processing (also under 'Train," below)

Train

Shared priority of employer, education, and Workforce Development Entities;
capacity exists primarily with educators within the Alliance
Identify training needs and curriculum driven by feedback or demand from employers
Continue, initiate, and expand entry level training for industry-specific positions
Capacity development for public and private K-12 and higher education informed by industry
Target career pathway training for low-skilled adults who are not considering health care occupations

Retain & Advance

Shared priority of employers, education, and Workforce Development Entities; primarily employer responsibility
Shared training for workers to increase capacity at current job (leadership, communication, diversity)
Shared training for workers to advance to new jobs in shortage areas
Shared training for common elements of career pathways

Governance

Membership is composed of representatives from the Health Care Industry, and other organizations playing a supportive role to the Health Care Industry such as: Education, Economic Development, Labor, Workforce Development and Community-Based Organizations.

Clinical Passport Ad Hoc Committee

The Clinical Passport Ad Hoc Committee will work to develop a standardized set of information that students need to complete before entering clinicals.

Grants Committee

The Grants Subcommittee examines the investments to date and the investments impact and ask the question "what next?" This committee will be making recommendations to the Executive Committee and the full Alliance as to what additional financial resources need to be sought to forward the Alliance's work.

Resource Mapping Committee

The Resource Mapping Subcommittee is working to map efforts of workforce development for health care within in the region and at the state level. Explore the map to find health care workforce development offerings for K-12 students, pre-health professionals, and incumbent workers across the state.
