Industry Partnerships

 

The Workforce Development Board of South Central WI began to work on developing Industry Partnerships in 1998. Industry Partnerships provide industry-led, employer-driven solutions to meet the needs of workers and employers. Formed at the regional level, Industry Partnerships help to ensure that employers in key industry sectors including advanced manufacturing, agriculture, biotechnology, construction and energy efficiency, and health care can connect with each other identify shared needs of an industry and work with partners to design new systems that will solve the identified problems.

 

The Workforce Development Board of South Central Wisconsin, in conjunction with regional partners including Madison College, Moraine Park Technical College, the South Central Wisconsin Job Centers, State of Wisconsin Job Service, economic development partners, business leaders, and Center on Wisconsin Strategy, have created a strategic Industry Partnership structure that:

 

  • Builds and strengthen relationships between employers and the workforce system.
  • Assist in identifying the entry- and mid-level skills needed by workers.
  • Help the South Central Wisconsin Job Center System and partners understand the ever-changing demands of industry.


Industry Partnership Initiatives

 

  • Enable employers to identify common workforce problems and solutions;
  • Offers businesses a role in designing training that provides local workers with relevant skills; 
  • Help employers link skilled workers to quality jobs;
  • Provide a forum for strategic discussions on regional economic and industry trends;
  • Provide a forum for institutional partners to continually align their diverse programs including:
    • Providing the infrastructure for those institutions to develop and implement a stronger strategic vision for skills development in South Central Wisconsin; and,
    • Enabling partners to pursue joint efforts to make our workforce development system more responsive to area workers and employers.
