DWD Executive Assistant Maxwell Visits Jefferson County Workforce Development Center

MADISON, WI /http://dwd.wi.gov/dwd/news.htm/ Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Executive Assistant Georgia Maxwell met young adults receiving employment services from DWD and its regional partner on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, in Jefferson at the Workforce Development Center of Jefferson County.
Executive Assistant Maxwell stopped at the center for Youth Fest, a regular session that the South Central Workforce Development Board holds for young adults seeking employment. The job center visit is the latest in a series of events during Workforce Development Month.
Throughout the month of September, DWD and its regional partners are highlighting programs and services that empower and support Wisconsin’s workforce as part of Governor Walker’s overall strategy to advance the economy and help create private sector jobs.
Events will include third anniversary celebrations of DWD’s online employment site, JobCenterofWisconsin.com, which was launched in September 2008 and recently had a record 34,000 job postings.
With approximately 1,600 employees, DWD works with employers to fill jobs, provides training and employment services to workers, enforces workers’ rights, and administers Unemployment Insurance and Worker’s Compensation programs.
