CLASP

Center on Wisconsin Strategy (COWS)

COWS is a national policy center and field laboratory for high-road economic development. Areas of program focus include: economic and workforce development, sectoral strategies and career pathways, clean energy and energy efficiency, labor markets and job improvement, and strategies for improving low-wage work.

 

Joyce Foundation

Promoties policies that improve economic outcomes for low-income working adults by enabling them to improve their skills and fill the job needs of employers in the region.

 

National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA)

An organization of state administrators of unemployment insurance laws, employment services, training programs, employment statistics and labor market information and other programs and services provided through the publicly-funded state workforce system.

 

National Association of Workforce Boards

The National Association of Workforce Boards (NAWB) is the leading workforce association that represents the nation's nearly 600 business-led Workforce Investment Boards (WIBs) and also serves other associated organizations in the workforce industry with one common goal: Helping America Work.

 

National Skills Coalition

National Skills Coalition organizes broad-based coalitions seeking to raise the skills of America’s workers across a range of industries.

 

RISE Initiative

RISE is a joint initiative of the Wisconsin Technical College System and the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, and funded in part through a “Shifting Gears” grant from the Joyce Foundation. RISE draws on local, state and national expertise to make "career pathways" a central part of Wisconsin's education and job training systems; and, engages the business community at both the state and regional levels to address the skill needs of major industry sectors.

 

Shifting Gears - Joyce Foundation

The Joyce Foundation launched the Shifting Gears initiative in 2006 to help Wisconsin (and other midwestern states) re-engineer adult education, workforce development and postsecondary education policies to support economic growth and expand job opportunities for low-skilled workers in the Midwest.

 

Skills2Compete-Wisconsin

In partnership with National Skills Coalition, the Skills2Compete-Wisconsin campaign seeks to raise awareness of the need to train Wisconsin residents for middle-skill jobs, which require more than high school but less than a four-year degree.

Thrive is the economic development enterprise for the eight-county Madison Region, created to grow the region's economy in ways that preserve and enhance the quality of life.

 

Windows to Work

Windows to Work is designed to address the criminogenic risk factors that can lead to recidivism including unemployment/underemployment, low/interrupted education, poor problem solving skills, inadequate housing, and financial difficulties.

 

Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA)

WHEDA offers innovative products and services in partnership with others to link Wisconsin residents and communities with affordable housing and economic development opportunities.

Blackhawk Technical College
