Made in Dane Manufacturing Network The Made In Dane Manufacturing Network is a team of manufacturers in Dane County who work together to create a space to share ideas and best practices; engage and build partnerships; and work to transform the image of manufacturing. Our Mission To enhance the image and raise awareness of manufacturing as a leading industry in the Dane County region, promote career pathways in our industry, and develop strong partnerships with manufacturers, community leaders and schools. To create industry driven partnerships that will collectively promote the manufacturing industry to communities, be a recognized resource to manufacturers in the Dane County region and work collectively on initiatives that will drive long-term success for the manufacturing sector. Our Vision Awareness Education: Strengthen communication and relationships with education partners to ensure school staff, boards, students and parents are aware of career opportunities in manufacturing and the economic impacts of manufacturing on the region. Networking: Bring industry leaders together to build awareness of the broad manufacturing sector in Dane County, create connections and develop trusted relationships. Resources: Strengthen relationships with economic development organizations, chambers of commerce and other strategic partners to ensure they are aware of the priorities of the manufacturing industry. Partnerships Education: Collectively identify training needs and combine fiscal and human capital resources to fund and fill training programs. Networking: Promote peer to peer education through best practice sharing and problem solving through discussions about challenges and barriers. Resources: Bring together regional, local and statewide partners to identify resources available to the manufacturing sector. Community Education: Strengthen relationships with K-12 partners, provide assistance with curriculum development and soft skill/employability skill development, participate on industry advisory committees and help develop youth employment initiatives. Networking: Develop and enhance relationships with community organizations to develop worker pipelines and assist with training programs and employability skill programs. Resources: Identify and connect with community resources that workers and businesses can access to address retention and increase participation in the workforce.

Learn how the ABA2 grant, funded by the U.S. Department of Labor, is expanding and strengthening the Registered Apprenticeship (RA) system in South Central Wisconsin. Through public-private partnerships, this grant supports a variety of industries and individuals, promoting Registered Apprenticeship Programs (RAPs) as a valuable workforce development solution that turns training into meaningful, long-term careers. EDA Wisconsin BioHealth Tech Hub Actualizing BioHealth Career Pathways Expanding Registered Apprenticeships The Wisconsin BioHealth Tech Hub has been selected as one of 12 tech hubs in the nation to receive Phase 2 funding through the U.S. Department of Commerce's Regional Technology and Innovation Hub program. With a $49 million grant, this significant investment strengthens Wisconsin's biohealth sector, positioning the state as a leader in personalized healthcare and creating thousands of new job opportunities. Actualizing Biohealth Career Pathways As part of the Actualizing Biohealth Career Pathway s team, led by Madison Area Technical College, the Workforce Development Board of South Central Wisconsin will leverage this funding to implement a variety of initiatives aimed at advancing career development within the biohealth sector. This initiative focuses on building a diverse talent pipeline through stackable credentials, apprenticeship programs, and new career pathways to ensure individuals are well-prepared for success in the biohealth industry. Key initiatives include: Youth Apprenticeship: Offering hands-on learning experiences for young people interested in biohealth careers. Summer Youth Employment : Providing summer job placements to give youth valuable work experience in the biohealth field. Youth Programs Up Up Up Youth Apprenticeships Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship (YA) integrates school and work-based learning to educate students on employability and professional skills. Students are instructed by qualified trainers and worksite mentors while enrolled in classes to meet high school graduation requirements & are employed by a business under the supervision of a skilled mentor. Independent Living The IL program is designed to support young adults transitioning out of foster care. Our team works with you to build on your strengths, needs, talents and unique interests to move you towards the goals you’ve set for yourself. Youth Advisory Council (YAC) Consisting of current and former foster care young adults, YAC's mission is to improve youth experience within the system through education, advocacy and awareness. Members advocate for youth in foster care and educate government systems as well as the public on issues surrounding the foster system. YAC members begin on regional councils but can also be members of the Statewide Council. STEPS The STEPS Program is designed to help eligible high school students get started on the pathway to a successful future with education, paid work opportunities, job shadowing, resume building, and more supportive services like possible funding for transportation, job assistance, and life challenges. GuidEd GuidEd is designed to connect young adults to local businesses to learn about the various pathways available in a number of industries. The program provides company tours, hands-on activities, and more for K-12 students to explore careers in a chosen industry.

Apprenticeship Building America 2 (ABA2) Grant Pathways to Quality Jobs: Expanding & Empowering Healthcare Apprenticeships in Wisconsin. Expanding Registered Apprenticeships Apprenticeship Building America 2 (ABA2), our latest grant initiative, focuses on expanding and building new healthcare apprenticeship pathways designed to meet the growing demand for skilled healthcare professionals. Individuals will have access to high-quality training, combining classroom instruction with hands-on experience to earn industry-recognized credentials and degrees. By aligning education-system aligned apprenticeship training with the specific skills and competencies required in the workforce, we ensure that employers receive a steady pipeline of talent equipped with practical knowledge. Apprentices benefit from earning a wage while they learn, entering the workforce with minimal debt, and securing well-paying, sustainable careers in healthcare. With our grant partners, we plan to prepare and support more than 400 individuals over the next 5 years as they pursue Registered Apprenticeships in healthcare. Laid Off Workers How We Can Help If you’re facing a layoff and need information related to reemployment; are seeking healthcare or Unemployment Insurance (UI) resources; want information on trainings; or need connections to other financial, health and community resources to move forward, turn to us. We’ve helped thousands of laid off (dislocated) workers in South Central Wisconsin quickly transition to new employment through Rapid Response services. Click here for Spanish Version Rapid Response Session WIOA Dislocated Worker Program The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Dislocated Worker Program is designed to help individuals who have lost their job through no fault of their own, often due to layoffs, company closures, or other situations beyond their control. If you are a displaced worker, this program can provide essential services to help you find new employment, gain new skills, and get back on your feet quickly. Services The WIOA Dislocated Worker Program provides a variety of services designed to support your job search and career development. These services (provided in partnership with the WorkSmart Network) can include: Career Counseling & Case Management Work one-on-one with a career counselor who can assess your skills, experience, and interests. They will help you create an individualized career plan to guide your job search and provide ongoing support. Training and Education WIOA can help you gain new skills or certifications that are in demand in today’s job market. This may include funding for vocational training, community college courses, and other educational opportunities that improve your employability. Job Search Assistance Receive help with job hunting, resume writing, and interview preparation. Additionally, you may have access to job fairs, employer networking events, and online job boards that connect you to job opportunities. Financial Assistance for Training and Support Services WIOA may help cover the costs of training programs, certifications, and other resources to support your reemployment. Financial assistance may also be available for transportation, childcare, or other work-related needs. Reemployment Services WIOA offers specialized programs to help you re-enter the workforce quickly. These may include workshops, group counseling sessions, or direct referrals to employers with job openings that match your skills. On-the-Job Training (OJT) & Internships Participate in on-the-job training or internships where you can earn while learning new skills in a real-world work environment. These programs provide employers with financial incentives to hire and train dislocated workers. How to Get Started Getting started with the WIOA Program is simple: Contact the WorkSmart Network Team Visit your local American Job Center (AJC) or contact the team to schedule an appointment. Complete the Eligibility Process You will be asked to complete an eligibility assessment to determine your qualifications for the program. This may involve providing documentation such as unemployment benefits information, or proof of employment authorization. Work with a Career Planner Once approved, a Career Planner will guide you through the available services and help you develop a personalized plan to help you return to work quickly.
