Worker Advancement Initiative (WAI) Round 2

Upskilling Our Region: Fueling Opportunities for Quality Jobs

Upskilling Individuals

With the Worker Advancement Initiative (WAI) Round 2 grant, awarded to us by the Department of Workforce Development, we're continuing to provide individuals across South Central Wisconsin with training opportunities that build skills for in-demand, quality jobs and connect them to career pathways in our region's key industries. WAI provides access to paid work-based learning and classroom training opportunities, ensuring participants gain industry-related experience needed to enter or reenter the workforce with confidence.

We made a powerful impact in Round 1, launching 75 training cohorts supporting over 700 individuals in various industries like construction, manufacturing, healthcare, and finance. Building on that momentum through partnerships and collaboration with local employers and community organizations, Round 2  will allow us to continue bridging gaps in employment by aligning workforce needs with hands-on, paid practical training to support individuals on their journey towards stable, meaningful careers.

This program is made available by a grant from the American Rescue Plan Act Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds.
