On August 27, 2025, a cohort of aspiring manufacturing professionals marked the completion of a transformative 6-week training program led by the Workforce Development Board of South Central Wisconsin (WDBSCW). The graduation event brought together students, instructors, and community partners to celebrate the program’s success and the promising futures ahead. Funded through the Worker Advancement Initiative 2.0 grant administered by WDBSCW, the initiative was made possible through collaboration with People Helping People, the Department of Workforce Development (DWD), Sauk County, and Madison College.

Skills for High Demand Jobs
Designed to launch careers in a high-demand industry, the training featured three key components: a course overview session, hands-on instruction in Core Metal Machining & Fabrication, and an offsite industry tour with career exploration. Participants gained practical skills and direct exposure to manufacturing environments, preparing them for stable, high-paying roles.
A Launchpad for Opportunity
As graduates received their certificates and shared reflections, the event underscored WDBSCW’s commitment to building pathways to employment and economic growth across the region. By connecting education, industry, and community support, WDBSCW continues to empower individuals to pursue meaningful careers and strengthen Wisconsin’s workforce. And the support doesn’t end at graduation—participants will receive career coaching and job placement assistance through the WorkSmart Network, ensuring they have the guidance and resources needed to take the next step into the manufacturing industry. This graduation wasn’t just a celebration—it was a launchpad for new beginnings.
