Eleri Davis credits Youth Apprenticeship Program for advancing her future career in Education
For Eleri Davis, stepping into Prairie Elementary as part of the Youth Apprenticeship (YA) program has been more than just a learning experience—it’s been the beginning of her journey toward a future in education. Under the mentorship of Mrs. Frey, Eleri has embraced the opportunity to support students, develop teaching skills, and gain hands-on classroom experience before even starting college.
Eleri role involves helping students understand concepts, providing extra support to those who need it, organizing projects and preparing lesson activities. But beyond that, she has built meaningful connections with the students, watching them progress in their learning each week. “I love being able to play games with the kids during choice time and getting to know more about them every day,” she shares.

A key factor in her growth has been her mentor, Mrs. Frey. “I couldn’t have asked for a better mentor,” Eleri says. “She helps me understand her teaching style, keeps me involved, and has given me valuable insight into classroom management.”
Mrs. Frey echoes Eleri's sentiment, recognizing the youth's potential. “She is an eager learner who observes new skills and applies them later. She actively seeks opportunities to learn, asks insightful questions, and steps into any role needed. I look forward to seeing her continue to grow as a future teacher.”
Eleri’s parents have also seen the positive impact of the YA program. “This has been a fantastic opportunity for Eleri! She is developing leadership and critical thinking skills that will serve her well in her educational and career goals. We are so thankful and appreciative of the opportunities provided to Eleri through the YA program,” they share.
The experience Eleri is gaining as a Youth Apprentice is proving to be invaluable as she shapes her future career. She reflects, “Being able to get into a classroom and earn school credit for it gives you a huge advantage when you are considering your future career.”
With real-world classroom experience and strong mentorship, Eleri is taking meaningful steps toward a career in education. The YA program has provided her with the skills and confidence to pursue her goals and make a difference in teaching the next generation.
